During our guided dives and courses we encounter a lot of amazing animals under water. Some creatures you spot during a day time dive and others during a night dive. The reef looks completely different during the night. Corals open and a lot of night creatures come out of their hiding places. This is one of the creatures you mostly spot during a night dive but now captured during daytime. It was crawling over the coral when it was spotted. The camera was a little bit to close and it snapped towards it. After that it found it self a hiding spot in the coral. Nice to know is we never use a stick when filming. We come as close as we can get without bothering the creature. Would you like it if someone put a camera right in your face? No? Then also don’t do this with a stick when filming!

During your open water course you learn a lot about diving, it doesn’t mater if it’s junior open water or advanced open water. You practice skills under water and dive along the reef. After a day in the water you have experienced a lot of things but you also have encountered new things.  Watching around every corner in the coral formation. Then you  suddenly spot something, might be a shrimp, seahorse or turtle. It makes your whole dive special, every time again. These are the moments you will talk about later on. Under water is a complete different world with a lot of colors and animals. It’s an addicting one witch you want to explore over and over again.

During your advanced open water course you have to do 5 dives. Two dives are mandatory, these are: the Deep dive and the Navigation dive. The other three you can decide by yourself. One of these dives can be the diver propulsion vehicle also known as “DPV”. Here you learn how to handle the DPV and what are the hidden dangers in using it. Once in the water it will be a lot of fun. Most times the driver doesn’t notice what’s surrounding him coral and fishwife, because he was playing with the “DPV”. If you don’t have time to do the complete advanced open water diver course, then you can also try to do the adventure diver course.

During our dives we experience a lot of special moments. This time is was an big one. At the end of an advanced open water dive, we encountered a big group of green turtles, eating pieces of fish thrown back by the local fisherman, after cleaning their catch of the day. The scenery was amazing. Sitting at the bottom we could watch the spectacle. The turtles were swimming everywhere and approached us closely to see what we were doing. They were in all sizes and enjoyed there given dinner. after that they all  their own way over the reef as did we.

Diving at Curaçao is a lot of fun, you always find something new what makes your dive special. This time it was during a advanced junior open water course. After descending for the deep dive we spotted a yellow frogfish on orange elephant ear coral. It was a great encounter because now it was sitting on top of the coral and started to move slowly forward. You could see his angler and feet moving. After a few minuts we went further on with our deep dive. But this was the moment that maked the dive great. Hopefully we wil spot a lot more of them in different colors.

After seeing her father and her friend Lisa diving Indy told her parents she would like to try this also. First her parents thought she was to young, Indy is almost 9 years old. Luckily for Indy we could explain the parents about PADI’s Bubblemaker program, so Indy could go diving as well.

Look at the movie and see this little mermaid enjoying herself underwater. She had no fear at all,the instructor had to work hard to keep her from going to deep :-))

Are you planning a vacation on Curaçao and do you have children in the age of 8 years and up? Schedule a Discover Scuba Dive for yourselves and a Bubblemaker dive for your children at Relaxed Guided Dives!

Not only adults are allowed to dive, youngsters can do the Junior Open Water course, just like Stijn. Stijn did part of his course already in his home country, so he already finished his pool sessions and theoretical part. He chose to do the open water part of the course on Curacao, as referral dives. Who would not want to do it this way? Do your open water dives in the clear, warm  waters, good visibility and so much beautiful and colorful ocean life surrounding you. Take a look at a small impression of his fun tour part of the dives! Aren’t you jealous?

Last year we spotted a lot of seahorses at one of the dive sites of Curacao. Sadly they dissapeared after a storm in November. Of course we always keep an eye out for them. These last couple of weeks we are very happy to say we are seeing them again. Some are still very small and very good at hiding themselves. They also tend to play dead when they sense they are spotted. Not the one in this movie, he showed us he was very alive and gave us the opportunity to admire him for a while. We are so happy, seahorses are back!!

During an open water course it’s not only exercises. Of course these are the most important parts of the open water course, but there’s always time for a fun tour as well. This diver was very lucky during his open water course. Almost every dive we saw something special. First dive we saw a seahorse, second dive turtles turtles and more turtles. Third dive a frogfish, or no, even better 2!! First time his instructor (Petricia) found 1 herself, woohoo. On a couple of his dives his wife joined as a Scuba Review Dive, so they could share the fun. What will you see when you start your open water course???

Some times we hit the jackpot during a guided shore dive. This dive was one like that again.  The moment we went under we were surrounded by a lot of green turtles. They were relaxing, eating left overs from fish. It was a beautiful sight to see them in different sizes. Some were curious what we were doing at the sandy bottom. These moments you just hang  properly balanced in the water and enjoy the sight. When the turtles were done they all went their own way and we went ours. Slowly diving along the reef and seeing what we could find more to talk  about later.

Diving With Mika at a dive spot at Curaçao. Together discovering the beauty of a shallow under water world. After going under we encountered a lot of animals. Also we explored a little cave with a lot of creatures you normally spot during a night dive. We encountered a green muray eel and spiny lobsters joined by shrimp. The great thing about diving on Curaçao is that you don’t have to go deep to see a lot. This makes Curaçao a great place for Discover Scuba Dives and diving with children. And more, all can be done easily from shore!!!

Diving with new and returning customers is always fun. During the fun tour part of this Scuba Review dive we encountered a seahorse and a one armed box crab. Missing his other arm it was making it difficult for him to hide under the sand, but making it easier for us to look at him. After this we went on with our fun tour and reached the reef where we looked at all the beautiful corals and fishes. Enjoying the colors and the behavior, looking form more fun creatures to look at. All divers realized again why diving is fun and decided not to wait another year before they dive again!
