The Medical Trained/Emergency First Response course is not only suitable for divers, but for everyone who wants to learn what to do in case of an emergency.
During the course items like CPR, artificial respiration and assessment of the surroundings come to attention. You learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on a mannequin. You also learn how to dress wounds, how to put arms or legs in splints and how to put a patient in a safe and stable position.
Through role-playing, you will learn how to judge an emergency situation. What happened, what can you do to help? Are their other people around that can help you, who can call the emergency numbers whilst you are giving Emergency First Response aid to the patient.
You will not only practise skills, there’s also theory and an exam involved.
After finishing the course and passing the exam you get a certification card that is valid for 2 years. To stay an active and up to date Medical Trained/Emergency First Response you will have to follow a refresher course every 2 years.
