The Emergency First Response course is not only suitable for divers, but for everyone who wants to learn what to do in case of an emergency.
During the course things like CPR, artificial respiration and assessment of the surroundings come to attention. You learn how to administer CPR, give artificial respiration and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on a mannequin. You also learn how to dress wounds, how to put arms or legs in splints and how to put a patient in a safe and stable position.
With role-playing you will learn how to judge an emergency situation. What happened, what can you do to help? Are their other people around that can help you, who can call the emergency numbers whilst you are giving Emergency First Response help to the patient.
You will not only practise skills, you will also have to learn theory and do an exam. You can start studying yourself using the selfstudy part in the manual. This way you come to the lessons prepared.
After finishing the course and passing the exam you get a certification card that is valid for 2 years. You are advised to do a refresher course every 2 years. This way your card stays valid and you will keep being informed about the latest developments with regards to first aid.
Emergency First Response is useful for everybody and is valid for BHV-ers in the Netherlands, but also for divers who are doing the PADI rescue diver course.
We also offer the course Care for Children. This is a separate module oriented towards care for young children and baby’s. This module is especially suited for persons working with children, like in daycare, Kindergarten, and in schools. This course is also valuable for parents of young children. It’s not said for nothing that most accidents happen at home!
